So, how does Webflow stack up? Really well...

You can highlight how you help your clients here. Right now, you can check out how Webflow compares to other platforms.

Webflow vs WordPress

My favorite benefit over WordPress is that it's virtually maintenance free. Seriously...You can also customize the CMS (which handles blog posts + anything you can dream up) without touching code.

Webflow vs Squarespace

Tired of figuring out the correct code injection to hack your template? No rigid templates here! Start from scratch if you want, Or, start with template (like this one), but you are never locked in.

Webflow vs Showit

Showit is gaining popularity and is often praised for its design freedom. But, it's still dependent on WordPress for blogging. With Webflow, you have a built in, easy blog that you can set up exactly like you want.

Can Webflow really replace WordPress?

The short answer is: it depends on your needs, but YES for many entrepreneurs.

If you need a membership site, you should probably stick with WordPress for now. Or use a third party platform; I'm happy to suggest a few options.

Webflow also doesn't have e-commerce built in. It's coming soon, though, and promises to be unlike anything else on the market. That doesn't mean you can't have a store. It does mean that you will need to pay for a third-party option. So, consider that in your budget.

You may be thinking, "But WooCommerce is free & I can get cheap hosting for my site..." But really, how many websites can you name that are fast, secure, beautiful, easy to navigate, include SSL, AND come with amazing support for $3 per month hosting? Off my soapbox, and on to a side by side comparison:

Design Flexibility

Tweak, design, customize...all without code. Really. Design for any screen

Limited to theme settings or use code (or a page builder). Some themes are mobile ready.

Ease of Blogging

As simple as creating a doc or filling out a form.

Despite being built for blogging, it's definitely more complicated.

Security & Maintenance

Automagic backups, built-in security, & 24/7 monitoring.

You will need to set up separate plugins to handle all of this.

Site Speed/SEO

Built in SSL, CDN, caching, etc. Basically it's all included.

Again, separate plugins are needed for speed & SEO.

Collaboration

Built in collaboration tools included via the Editor.

Collaboration is also built in with WordPress.

Support

Support is handled via email + community forum + extensive library of help tutorials. My personal experience with support has been outstanding. Plus the Webflow University videos are as funny as they are informative.

You are kind of on your own with community based support.

Squarespace or Webflow?

So, you have decided that low maintenance and easy updates are priories for you? I totally get that! Despite lots of *ahem* strong opinions that WordPress is the only option for the serious biz owner, not everyone needs a WP site.

So, you might think that Squarespace is the only answer. You'd be mistaken, but it's totally not your fault. Webflow hasn't really spent much time marketing to the creative community, and Squarespace markets to them almost exclusively. Part of what makes Squarespace easy is it's templates. But that's also what limits your creativity, and makes it difficult to make your site stand out from a sea of other Squarespace sites.

What about e-commerce? Yes, Squarespace has some built in e-commerce. Webflow has an amazing e-commerce option coming, and there are lots of third party options. I'm happy to point you in the right direction if you need a bit of guidance on the best solution for your business.

If you are tired of feeling restricted, then it's time to take a look at Webflow.

Design Flexibility

Tweak, design, customize...all without code. Really. Design for any screen size.

Limited to theme settings or use a code injection. Mobile ready.

Ease of Blogging

As simple as creating a doc or filling out a form.

Definitely easier than WordPress, but not quite as simple as Webflow.

Security & Maintenance

Automagic backups, built-in security, & 24/7 monitoring.

Squarespace sites are also simple to maintain and include built in security/backups.

Site Speed/SEO

Built in SSL, CDN, caching, etc. Basically it's all included.

Things are mostly built in here too. Webflow has an edge on blog SEO though.

Collaboration

Built in collaboration tools included via the Editor.

Collaboration is also built in with Squarespace.

Support

Support is handled via email + community forum + extensive library of help tutorials. My personal experience with support has been outstanding. Plus the Webflow University videos are as funny as they are informative.

They have you covered with all the support types you would want/expect.

Showit vs Webflow

Showit has become a buzz word in the creative community lately. There are some big name entrepreneurs who are using it, and there are certainly some lovely Showit sites by very talented designers.

My biggest frustration with Showit is the code. Before your eyes glaze over, let me explain why you should care about code: A well coded sites functions better and loads faster. Clean code = an easier to use website.

Showit also approaches web design with desktops and phones in mind. There is a middle ground, ie. tablets where things get wonky. Webflow allows you granular control over each screen size.

Design Flexibility

Tweak, design, customize...all without code. Really. Design for any screen size.

The design flexibility is the the most popular feature. Mobile ready. (But the code is messy 😱)

Ease of Blogging

As simple as creating a doc or filling out a form.

Showit integrates with WordPress for blogging. So, definitively not as simple as Webflow.

Security & Maintenance

Automagic backups, built-in security, & 24/7 monitoring.

Backups are automatic, but only stored for 7 days. Longer for blog posts. You may need more maintenance to additional plugins with the advanced blogging plan.

Site Speed/SEO

Built in SSL, CDN, caching, etc. Basically it's all included.

There are lots of built in SEO and speed improving features.

Collaboration

Built in collaboration tools included via the Editor.

You need the advanced plan to have multiple users.

Support

Support is handled via email + community forum + extensive library of help tutorials. My personal experience with support has been outstanding. Plus the Webflow University videos are as funny as they are informative.

They have you covered with a help center, community forum, and chat.

Kind Words

Testimonials are built into the services page as well as the landing page builder. You can easily add new testimonials through the Editor, just like a blog post.
